The awards was jointly organised by the United Overseas Bank (UOB) and NTUC U SME – a labour movement initiative set up in 2014, to help SMEs tackle critical issues and challenges. The award was presented on April 17, 2019, at a special ceremony held at in Shangri-La Hotel’s Tower Ballroom.
Commenting on Alliance 21’s digital transformation, Alliance 21 Group CEO, Mr. Benjamin Ong said:
“In Alliance 21, we want to inculcate a culture of innovation. The management and the staff are encouraged to think out of the box and to always explore and keep abreast of emerging trends and technologies that might help the company to improve productivity, enhance the customer experience and differentiate itself from the competition.
As a logistic provider, our company has faced many challenges such as declining margins, cost pressures, difficulty in recruitment, and keeping the company relevant in this digital age. We have tried to overcome this by harnessing technology to build our new domain ALEX.World – a digital freight and fulfilment portal that we have built from the ground up. The portal help us to market our services in the digital space and beyond our physical boundaries, improve the productivity of our staff and provide our customers with holistic experience of moving their freight by simplifying the processes of getting a quote, making a booking, and tracking their shipment.”
The sole winner for the Individual Category was also from Alliance 21, and the award was given to Ms. Karen Poh. She was recognised for her great contribution in the scoping, development and implementation of the ALEX.World portal.
